Red rose alert: Valentine’s Day is under a month away! It’s that time of year when the shops start to fill with heart-shaped gifts and overpriced cards, and florist start taking orders for long stemmed red roses.
This year, why not do something a little different for Valentine’s Day (it is a leap year after all), and give the gift of music instead. There are plenty of musical methods to brighten his/her day with something even more delicious than chocolates (and certainly less calorific!).
1. Serenade them at their door
Or rather, let one of our talented singers or duos provide the vocals. As they burst into song for your sweetheart, you can simply stand looking elegant/handsome/relived and take all the glory! Valentine’s Day falls on a Friday this year, so why not surprise your beloved with:
- a lively mariachi band at breakfast
- an acoustic lounge ensemble over lunch
- an opera singer or two during dinner for two
And with sunset holding off until 5.15pm, there may be time to squeeze in a crazy one man band on the front lawn before bedtime so young kids can join in the fun too!
2. Dinner for two with a twist
All your favourite tunes played for you by a live DJ in your front room (or somewhere a little bigger!) As the rest of the Uk head out for dinner in a restaurant, you can have your own celebration just the way you like it. Think:
- a live DJ and a doner kebab
- a Pavarotti sing-a-like and a pizza
- dhol drummers with a madras and tarka daal
You get the ideal!
3. Dance yourself dizzy
Remember those days when you used to go out dancing/clubbing until dawn? Recreate those awesome dance floor days without the crowds and ridiculous taxi queues at 1am Hire a live DJ playing all your fav tunes that are special to you both, in your front room, from your first dance together to summer festival favourites, or classic albums you both love. (You might also invite some friends around to join in the fun and join that conga line…)
4. Stepping out with my baby
Why not spend time together learning a new dance style, from samba to belly dancing or lindy hop. Many of our dance acts offer workshops, so get a few mates to join in for your very own version of Strictly! If the village or church hall is free that night, why not turn it into a community event and sell tickets for those who also want to celebrate Valentine’s dancing with their darling.
5. DIY with our karaoke band
Always wanted to sing with a live band? Now’s your chance! Our karaoke band play it, you sing it and the crowd (OK, your other half) go wild! Another fun way to celebrate Valentine’s Day at your pub, club or venue without a rose in sight.
