Here’s the latest video from Alexander D’Great, a calypso about eco friendly carnival.
There is a group of carnivalists called Carnival Network South who gathered for a conference on March 13th in Bristol (just before the lockdown) entitled “Towards a greener carnival”.
It is all about recycling waste, re-using costumes rather than throwing them away, using electricity and cycle power to run sound systems, making instruments out of bicycle wheels and recyclable plastic etc.
Alexander D’Great entered this video in the virtual Notting Hill Carnival event, which was shown over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
His video was made during lockdown but includes some wonderful photos and clips from the Notting Hill Carnival.
Let’s hope the carnival will be live again next year and eco friendly.
