We’re delighted to join Alexander D Great for our lockdown showcase today, with a taste of Calypso to help get you ready for the weekend.
Alexander D Great has been the Calypsonian in residence to the BBC since 2000, and has composed over 600 Calypsos based on news, current affairs and matters of historical and political interest.
He has played at festivals and concerts all over the World, and specialises in individually commissioned songs for birthdays, weddings and funerals.
We hope you enjoy listening to Alexander D Great as he shares a taster of these three Calypsos based on:
- Haiti just after the earthquake in 2010
- Brian Lara the Cricketer breaking two World records in 1994
- The Windrush scandal
