Frank Reid Scottish Band, The's Bio
The Frank Reid Scottish band is a vastly experienced team having played music for Scottish dancing in its various forms for decades.
The line up is that of a traditional Scottish dance band i.e. Accordion, fiddle, keyboards and drums. If you’re from Scotland the sound will be familiar to you. If you’ve been to ceilidhs before you’ll know just how much fun it is and will want your guests to experience it too. The combination of great swingy music, clear calling with plenty of humour thrown in, and our experience from over 4,000 gigs is unbeatable outside of Scotland.
Some guests may be familiar with the dances we do, but their emphasis is on getting your guests to join in and have fun without taking any of it too seriously. The dances they do are all ‘entry-level’ which means that everyone can take part. They walk through the dances beforehand and then ‘call’ during the dance for only as long as is necessary.
The dance programme is designed so that each dance builds on the movements previously learned and all your guests get to meet each other during the routines. This creates a fun, lively atmosphere and guarantees a night to remember.
The Frank Reid Scottish band have high quality Bose kit including bass bins which means they produce a powerful sound for the ceilidh part of the evening but can also use this to good effect with your very own playlist. Adding in the LED lights creates a great disco atmosphere to complete the evening if required.
They’re based near Wokingham in Berkshire and will travel almost anywhere but most of our gigs are in the London area.
Testimonials
“Just a note to say a big thank you for your band’s performance at our wedding on 23 October. It was fantastic! Great musicianship, great playing and great sound. ”

“Thank you so much for Saturday night. It was another incredible success. There are very few events that really bring the College community together quite like the Ceilidh.
Your ability to talk everyone through the dances so well from the stage is amazing. The thanks and feedback from everyone has been overwhelming. With renewed thanks,”
Alistair Goddard, Department of War Studies, King’s College London
“A belated thank you for playing at our wedding at the Barbican on 20th May. We knew you were great having seen you at Cecil Sharp but is was much better having you to ourselves.
The music was wonderful and the calling was just right for our guests. We very much hope to see you again at Cecil Sharp to get our fix of SCD and the Frank Reid Band!”

“Belated thanks for your magnificent contribution to our Ceilidh last Saturday, you all did a fantastic job and helped create exactly the atmosphere we were after – no mean feat with such a mixed bunch of guests (‘mixed’ in terms of experience, anyway!)
Ewan and I had a ball, and if the cards, flowers and phone calls that keep arriving are anything to go by, so did all our friends.
Our thanks again to you both and to the rest of the band.”
Ewan and Clare
“As you know, we had a very successful Ball and have had many comments on how much everyone enjoyed the evening. Part of the success of course is down to your band’s great playing and enthusiasm, which is very much appreciated by all the dancers. Our thanks go out to you for stepping into the breach at such short notice!
We will be featuring the Summer Ball in the Summer edition of The Caledonian magazine.”
Hilary Reid Evans, Chairman, Ball Committee – The Caledonian Club, Waterloo Ball – 5 June 2015
“Just a quick note to say thank you so much for playing at our wedding at Crockwell.
You really pitched the level of our guests just right, and the music itself was great.
So many people have said how much fun they had dancing and some of my defining moments of the day were twirling around with all our friends and family. We really hope we can catch you again at the Ceilidh Club in Camden in the future.”
Laura & Steve Meldrum-Carter
“What a wonderful day! I am still reeling from my exertions on the dance floor and just wanted to thank you all for giving the children a very special and vibrant taste of bonny Scotland today.
Listening to live music is a great privilege – how fortunate we are to have such a talented family in our community. The children were buzzing with excitement after the assemble and we have even have a few haggis converts amongst them!
Happy Burn’s Day to you all.”
Fiona Adams, Headteacher, Charles Kingsley’s C.E. Primary School
“We just wanted to say thank you so much for your wonderful playing at our wedding on Saturday! The ceilidh really made the day, and the calling was wonderful! We were very happy that by the time of the ceilidh, there was an ideal number of people left, and there was room to dance properly, and get the dances (mostly!) right! Everyone enjoyed themselves so much, and I was so happy to hear all the tunes we used to listen as a family on Take the Floor when I was a child.”
Mary-Jannet and Tom
“Just wanted to say thank you for helping us out this weekend with Frank Reid’s band; they were amazing and the client was very pleased. Please do pass on our thanks.”
